Propeller Systems Analysis

PropExpertWe use world leading PropExpert software for propeller analysis and selection of key propulsion system components.

PropExpert is propeller system analysis software produced by a company called HydroComp, who are the world leader in performance prediction software. The system is used for the selection and analysis of propeller systems for work boats and pleasure craft and insures the proper selection of propulsion system components including engine, gear and propeller for a vessel.

PropExpert uses real-world models for analysing motor and sailing yachts, tugs, trawlers, barges and river boats, patrol craft and sport fishing boats. The system can also be used to size propellers for other application, such as ROV/AUV thrusters if necessary and can determine optimal diameter, pitch, blade area and RPM for virtually all commercially available inboard propellers of 2 to 5 blades, from about 450mm (18") diameter up to about 2.5m (100"). Both flat-faced (Gawn) and foil-section (B-series) propellers are supported, as well as ducted propellers (Kaplan), cupped propellers, folding propellers and propellers in stern pockets.
